How is the COVID-19 pandemic affecting your early career programs? It's a question we posed to the CXR College Community and the response was overwhelming. The COVID-19 pandemic is top of mind for all in the college/university recruiting space. Particularly as many of them were in the midst of gearing up their summer programs when everything hit and, quite frankly, the world changed. We've been having weekly conversations with the CXR College Community and have some very timely benchmarks to share.

What changes have you made to your internship program because of COVID-19?

This is a benchmark that is shifting from week to week. By and large, companies are trying to still offer a meaningful experience to their interns and, whenever possible, honoring the offers of paid internship to these students. Most of them have set a deadline of mid- to late-April to finalize their program decisions.

How has your communication with internships and early career hires changed during the COVID-19 pandemic?

In a stat that will surprise no one, a vast majority of companies have really ramped up their communications with their interns. Certainly some of that is due to the need to keep their interns and early career hires informed of changes, but we're also seeing a really interesting shift to offering some pretty exciting virtual content. In fact, our next member call for the CXR College Community will be focusing on different virtual learning opportunities.
